Dear SBRA Community,

We’re excited to share UCSB Rowing’s results from the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Championships, held May 15-17, 2026, as well as celebrate the outstanding achievements of our student-athletes off the water.

Congratulations to our women’s coach, Brooke Downes, for receiving the ACRA All-West Coast Region Coach of the Year award!

Congratulations to Haley Flaherty and Ryn Swartzlander for being named to the ACRA All-West Coast Region Team! Congratulations as well to Haley Flaherty on earning ACRA Third Team All-American honors.

Liv Kallevig, Haley Flaherty, Ally Overmyer, and AJ Carlson were named to the ACRA First Team All-Academic honors, recognizing student-athletes who achieved a GPA between 3.85 and 4.0.

Kassy Davila, Skylar Clements-Hudson, Cat Clark, Camille Workman, Grace Jeter, Tilda Koven, Jasmine Arroyo, and Jillian Palmer earned ACRA Second Team All-Academic honors, recognizing student-athletes who achieved a GPA between 3.5 and 3.84.

Due to an error during the nomination process, UCSB’s men's team members were unfortunately not eligible for ACRA awards. While this prevented several deserving athletes from receiving official recognition, we would like to acknowledge the many members of the men's team who achieved GPAs above 3.5 and would have qualified for ACRA First Team or Second Team All-Academic honors.

A message from the incoming UCSB Rowing President

Dear UCSB Crew Alumni and Families,

My name is Camille Workman, and I’d like to introduce myself as the incoming president of UCSB Crew for the 2026-2027 season. I am entering my fourth year on the women’s team and have rowed in the Women’s Varsity 8 for the past two seasons. I will be succeeding Arjun Bombwal, whose leadership helped make this spring season a spectacular one for our program.

I hope you had a chance to watch some or all of the UCSB Crew races at the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) Regatta in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. For those of us on the water, it was a spectacular finish to an unforgettable season.

Several exciting developments this year helped shape our success: a new men's coach, Sean McCrea; several new boats, including one named in honor of Gaucho rowing legend and Olympian Amy Fuller Kearney; and the energy and support of the newly formed alumni group, the Santa Barbara Rowing Association (SBRA).

One of UCSB Crew’s oldest and most cherished traditions is staying together in shared accommodations when we travel to races. Over the years, families have generously opened their homes to us. This sometimes means athletes sleeping on couches and floors, but the cost savings are meaningful, and more importantly, it deepens our sense of family within our program. For our trip to Tennessee, each crew stayed together by boat in Airbnb accommodations. Sharing those spaces and spending time together outside of racing allowed us to build even stronger bonds as teammates, whether we were setting the tables and sharing dinner, or jumping into the water to cool off after a long day on the course.

I would also like to recognize the hard work and dedication of the 2025-2026 executive board: Arjun Bombwal (President), Jocelyn Jaber (Vice President), Haley Flaherty (Secretary), and Holden Eldredge (Treasurer). Looking ahead, the 2026-2027 officers are myself (President), Alex Svendsen-Conn (Vice President), Marie Christodoulou (Secretary), and Luther Richardson (Treasurer). We are excited to build on this year's momentum in the 2026-2027 season and are deeply grateful for SBRA's continued support.

A core part of SBRA’s mission is to reduce or eliminate the financial impact of major regattas such as SDCC, WIRA, and ACRA on the UCSB Rowing budget. SBRA’s support also helps ease the logistical burden on coaches and athletes by handling setup, meals, and cleanup before, during, and after racing.

Your generosity allows SBRA to create a safe, welcoming space for our athletes on and off the water, and helps bring warmth, energy, and community to every regatta.
